Bringing healing, nurturing growth, through Christ’s love.
From Brokenness to Beauty
The Awaken Love Story
Welcome to Awaken Love Kenya, where healing meets growth, faith meets truth, and love takes center stage. What started as a simple idea—just a book club—has blossomed into a movement empowering individuals to build thriving relationships and find purpose in every season of life.
How It All Began…
In 2021, life threw a curveball—diabetes. Having battled gestational diabetes, I assumed it would disappear post-delivery. Well, guess who ended up in the ER, fighting for dear life eight months later? Yep, me. Lying there, I realized I needed support, company, and an army around me. And what better way than through books? So, a book club was born.
What started as a reading circle soon became something bigger. My inbox flooded with women seeking help—not just book recommendations, but real solutions to real struggles. I felt unqualified, leaning on my peer education training and sheer passion. That’s when a dear friend, a counseling psychologist, had enough of my self-doubt.
“Lily, stop this nonsense. You’ve been called to this ministry! Get trained, gain competency, and handle clients like the therapist God has called you to be!”
Four years (and countless study hours) later, I’m a proud counseling psychologist! But trust me, those years didn’t zoom by. Amid classes, the book club kept growing. Then came Awaken Love—a book by Ruth Buezis that led to another bold step: hosting intimacy classes in Kenya.
Now, picture this—a young, born-again girl, talking about sex! Yes, with boldness! Because someone had to. Too many Christian women were suffering in silence, believing that feeling unloved and unappreciated was just their fate. I knew that pain all too well. But as the Bible says, blessed are those who have been comforted, so they can comfort others. And so, Awaken Love Kenya became that safe space—where conversations sparked transformation, and marriages found restoration.
More Than Just Books…
With hearts ignited, the women in Awaken Love longed for a space to pray together. And so, She Prays, She Connects was born—a place of deep, scripture-backed prayers, rebukes, corrections, and mind-blowing testimonies. Twice a year, we embark on a 40-day prayer challenge, inspired by Mark Batterson’s book. And oh, the miracles we’ve seen!
But we weren’t done yet.
Next came CBR (Consistent Bible Reading)—a journey through the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. Imagine conquering Mt. Everest—that’s what it felt like! Through it, ideas were conceived, projects were birthed, and visions took flight.
And here we are today.
Awaken Love Kenya—True Heart Empowerment. Because healing, growth, and transformation don’t just happen. They are awakened.
